Wolves ace Dan Bentley shares why one Burnley player had ‘choice words’ for him

Wolves got back to winning ways last night in the Premier League – and Dan Bentley has been coming in for a lot of plaudits for his display.

Gary O’Neil watched his side grind out a 1-0 victory, after suffering back-to-back defeats in the Premier League.

It was never really going to matter too much about the performance at Molineux. It was just about the result and thankfully Wolves managed to get three points to relieve a bit of pressure.

Hwang Hee-chan scored the only goal of the game to continue his incredible run of form, with the South Korea forward notching his ninth of the season.

But Dan Bentley also made a huge contribution, producing a brilliant double save in the first-half.

And the Molineux number two has now shared how Josh Brownhill reacted to that moment…

Towards the end of the first-half, Wolves got into a bit of trouble when Joao Gomes failed to clear his lines in the corner.

The ball came across to Jay Rodriguez, but Bentley made himself big to deny the striker.

The ball then came out to Brownhill, who hit a volley that looked destined for the bottom corner. It took a slight deflection on the way through, but Bentley managed to tip it around the post. It was a double save that wowed Amazon Sport pundits Michael Owen and Rachel Brown-Finnis.

After the game, Bentley revealed an interaction he had with Brownhill. He said: “He came up to me at the end and he gave me a few choice words for saving his shot, especially because it took a deflection right in front of me, so it made it a little more difficult – and Mario has to thank me for that one, because he obviously didn’t want his name attached to any goal against us!”

Bentley, of course, knows Brownhill well, with the pair having previously played together at Bristol City.

Bentley double save was amazing

The double save from Bentley was an amazing piece of goalkeeping.

The second save was especially impressive, because he was just so quick to get back up from the first save from Rodriguez. It was a great volley from Brownhill and it’s little wonder he was slightly frustrated it didn’t go in.

Hwang may have got the winner last night, but Bentley’s contribution to the result was huge.

He didn’t have an awful lot to do aside from that double save, but it’s obviously a completely different game if Wolves concede at that point, so Bentley deserves huge credit.
