Who is helping Jeff Shi appoint new Wolves manager after Domenico Teti left

Wolves are still without a manager following the sacking of Vitor Pereira on Sunday.

It has been a chaotic week so far after Vitor Pereira was relieved of his duties following that dismal 3-0 defeat to Fulham.

Speculation has been rife regarding who will succeed Pereira, with plenty of names having been touted.

One man it definitely won’t be is Gary O’Neil, who withdrew from the running in dramatic fashion, after he was on course to return.

O’Neil couldn’t agree working conditions in the end, so Wolves are now focusing on other targets. Rui Vitoria is the latest name to have emerged – he recently became unattached after getting sacked at Panathinaikos.

Last night, Wolves announced that director of professional football Domenico Teti had left the club by mutual consent.

Teti would have surely been helping to lead the search for a new manager, but it has now been shared who’s actually involved in the process.

The exit of Teti does not come as too big of a surprise.

He may have been a club hire, but Wolves surely would not have appointed him had he not already known Pereira well.

It was always likely that an exit for Pereira would also see him depart, especially since they both oversaw a really poor summer transfer window.

The director of professional football would surely have had a very big say in who the next manager of Wolves will be.

But with Teti gone, there are now three main protagonists for Wolves in the hunt for a new head coach.

BBC Radio West Midlands have confirmed that Jeff Shi is leading the process along with his football leadership team – notably Matt Jackson and Matt Wild.

Matt Jackson is the club’s director of player recruitment and development, and Matt Wild is the director of football operations & administration, who oversees football operations, financial efficiency of the football business and governance matters.

Regarding the actual search, BBC Radio WM say that an appointment of a successor to Pereira is not currently close.

The optics are horrendous for Fosun

It is now starting to look like Wolves may not have a new manager in before the game with Chelsea.

The last few months have been terrible for Fosun, who now have a spotlight on them having drawn increased media coverage.

They handed Pereira a new contract in a bid to stabilise the club, only to end up sacking him 45 days later.

They had no contingency plan in place for Pereira’s sacking, only starting to make phone calls once they decided they were definitely sacking him after the Fulham defeat.

O’Neil was then their first port of call, which was questionable in itself. O’Neil then withdrew, and Wolves are now scrambling.

It is truly a circus – and sadly at the moment there appears to be no end in sight.
