When Wolves’ Euro 2024 and Copa America stars will join teammates on US pre-season tour

Wolves are on the way to the United States to commence their pre-season tour however, not all of Gary O’Neil’s squad have travelled together.

The second phase of Wolves’ pre-season schedule is among us, as Gary O’Neil’s side are heading to the United States to participate in three friendlies.

In the States, the Old Gold will meet with Julen Lopetegui in a meeting with West Ham, as well as playing Crystal Palace and RB Leipzig.

While the majority of the squad that took part in the pre-season training camp in Marbella are on the plane to America, several stars are poised to join the tour later down the line.

When Wolves’ Copa America and Euro 2024 players will join the US pre-season tour

The Wolves stars back in pre-season training were not on international duty over the summer, with the Copa America and Euro 2024 running concurrently.

As a result, the four players involved in both tournaments have an extended break and will join the squad midway through the tour of America.

The news was reported by Express and Star, who relayed that Jose Sa, Nelson Semedo, Pedro Neto and Joao Gomes have been given ‘extra holiday’ after a packed summer of action.

Due to the four first-team stars who are poised to join their teammates after the tour has commenced, academy jewels Jimmy Storer, Wes Okoduwa and Nigel Lonwijk will miss out despite being present at the Marbella camp.

The notable absences from the tour include Fabio Silva and Daniel Podence, with both players expected to leave this summer although, Podence’s omission comes due to injury

Gary O’Neil will look forward to having his key players back

All of Neto, Semedo, Gomes and Sa were crucial to O’Neil’s squad last season, with each player having a vital role in Wolves’ high points last term.

It’s critical that the quartet return in good time this summer, with a huge campaign ahead over the 2024/25 calendar.

O’Neil will be handed the chance to integrate the four stars into the side, where three new faces await them in the form of Jorgen Strand Larsen, Rodrigo Gomes and Pedro Lima.

It’s expected that the international players will miss the opening fixture against West Ham on Saturday 27th July however, there could be a chance to see them back in action against either Palace (1st August) or RB Leipzig (4th August).

Pre-season is a crucial time for every squad, with plenty of work to be done ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
