When Wolves could potentially hand Vitor Pereira a new contract

Wolves are in a much better position now than a few months ago – with the appointment of Vitor Pereira turning out extremely well.

Following the sacking of Gary O’Neil, Wolves were in disarray, and many were worried that relegation awaited.

Wolves were languishing in 19th place and while the club had a very tough start in terms of the fixtures, there was a general acceptance than O’Neil simply had to go when he did. Some felt he should have gone weeks sooner.

In came Vitor Pereira, who had been with Al-Shabab over in Saudi Arabia.

It was a risky appointment given his lack of experience managing in top leagues in Europe.

But Pereira has done a sterling job so far, and has guided Wolves to 12 points clear of the relegation zone.

Just recently, Wolves have dished out new contracts to Yerson Mosquera and Joao Gomes. But what about Pereira? Molineux News brings you the lowdown from transfer expert Graeme Bailey.

Pereira’s popularity has never been higher.

He came in in December and has had a fantastic impact on the club, and supporters have really taken to him – not just for improving the team, but for coming across as one of them.

Pereira’s passion has been lapped up by Wolves fans, and there is feeling creeping in that he good achieve great things at Molineux, and get this club back where it needs to be.

When Pereira took the job at Wolves, he only signed a contract until the summer of 2026, which was understandable given when he came in and what a huge job he had on his hands.

But Pereira has done terrific work so far, and Molineux News has been told by transfer expert Graeme Bailey that a new contract for the Portuguese could be on the cards later this year if things carry on like this.

He told us: “Wolves are quite happy with Pereira, I think early next season, if he has a good start, they’ll look at doing that quite quickly.

“I don’t think it’ll be over the summer. But I know it is something that’s in their thoughts; they are aware that he’s only got a year left.”

Pereira could bring the good times back to Wolves

It’s still very early days for Pereira at Wolves, but it JUST cannot be overstated how well he’s done so far.

The Wolves job would have been a daunting prospect for many following the sacking of O’Neil.

Wolves were in the relegation zone and there were problems with players lacking discipline and being overly emotional.

But Pereira has come in and taken everything in his stride, and crucially, not been afraid to make big decisions and speak honestly in public.

He’s improved so many players in his short time here, which does make his potential very exciting. And Pereira has also made changes at Wolves to improve team spirit.

Wolves have been nowhere near European football for the last few years. But if Fosun – who will reportedly seek to adopt a self-sustaining approach this summer – can come through for Pereira, there’s no reason why Wolves can’t challenge in 2025/26, like the likes of Brighton, Fulham and Bournemouth all have this season.
