Wolves’ summer hasn’t gone the way most fans would have hoped so far, but it seems Vitor Pereira is still very much committed to the cause.
Vitor Pereira has sparked some concern at Wolves this summer, suggesting he was worried about Wolves selling players.
And again recently, Pereira talked about the need for new recruits.
Wolves have sold and let go of several players so far this summer, and the newly formed recruitment team are now under pressure to deliver.
And Wolves just saw their move for Marc Pubill hijacked, in a development that further increases the pressure.
But Pereira is thought to be content enough, promising fans he won’t leave Wolves, which is something we saw happen with Julen Lopetegui two years ago.
And actually, there is potential for the Wolves manager to sign a new contract.
When Vitor Pereira could commence new contract talks at Wolves

Pereira is a hugely popular figure at Wolves.
The Portuguese came in last December and completely turned things around after things were getting really bad under Gary O’Neil.
Pereira stabilised the team after bringing in some important players in January, and in the end he guided Wolves to a 16th placed finish, earning himself a Manager of the Season nomination in the process.
Wolves appear to be in good hands, which is why talk of a new contract for Pereira is most welcome.
And yesterday the Telegraph reported when Wolves could start talks with Pereira on that.
They said that ‘talks over an improved contract are likely to start next month but, for now, he knows more signings are required’.
Ahead of pre-season, Pereira has brought in two new coaches, Bruno Moura and Filipe Almeida, to help him take the team forward.
So clearly, there is a long term vision.
New contract for Pereira would be a major boost for Wolves
There is so much potential for Wolves under Pereira.
Since he came in, there have been shades of Nuno Espirito Santo about him with the way he has connected with the fans.
Vitor Pereira as Wolves manager |
Games managed – 25 |
Wins – 12 |
Draws – 3 |
Losses – 10 |
Goals scored – 39 |
Goals conceded – 36 |

Currently, he’s only got one year left in the deal he signed when he came in.
So ideally, Pereira will sign an extension very soon.
But one suspects that if Wolves do not deliver for him in the transfer market, he might just hold off. That is another reason why these next few weeks are so important.
