When Vitor Pereira could formalise new Wolves contract as recent feeling behind the scenes shared

There have been developments at Molineux today, with Vitor Pereira closing in on a new contract at Wolves.

Wolves had been thinking about a new contract for Vitor Pereira over the summer, but had put it on the backburner during the transfer window.

The club have been keen to reward Pereira for the great work he did last term.

Today, it was reported that talks had advanced between Wolves and Pereira, and now it’s a question of when, and not if, the Portuguese tactician signs.

Wolves have a huge game coming up against Leeds United this weekend.

Wolves have lost all four of their Premier League games so far, but this match is seen as an opportunity to get points on the board.

And potentially, Pereira could formalise his new contract at Wolves before this game, according to Ben Jacobs, who adds it’s a three-year deal.

He wrote on X: “Understand it could be formalised before the weekend. Pereira’s win percentage last season was the best of any Wolves head coach in the Premier League era with an average of around 1.5 points per game.

“After several managerial changes in recent years, Wolves’ priority is to build stability with a coach. There is an acknowledgement results have been difficult so far this season, but Pereira’s new deal is a reward for the culture he’s built since taking charge.”

Wolves were always confident of new contract for Pereira

As we know, Wolves had a pretty turbulent summer.

It is impossible to think that Pereira wouldn’t have felt a little bit frustrated by the end of the window, given Wolves missed out on primary targets such as Marc Pubill.

Some wondered if Pereira would actually even want to sign a new contract.

But Molineux News’ transfer expert Graeme Bailey has revealed there were never fears he wouldn’t sign.

He said: “The situation has accelerated in the last 48 hours. Talks have gone well. No problems and could be done soon.

“Given the club’s relationship with Jorge Mendes – they never saw it as a huge issue.”
