When the Wolves squad will meet Vitor Pereira – and what they’ve been doing since Gary O’Neil left

Wolves’ hunt for a new manager is almost over as the club prepares to unveil Al-Shabab coach Vitor Pereira.

Wolves had been looking at Pereira for weeks before the Old Gold decided to make contact with the 56-year-old.

After O’Neil was sacked, Wolves opened talks with the Portuguese, who is currently manager of Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab.

Pereira is travelling to England ahead of his proposed move, with all systems go in terms of the coach’s desire to make the change.

When the Wolves squad will meet Vitor Pereira

It’s been a trialling time for the Wolves squad, who saw O’Neil bid farewell after an eventful last-minute defeat to Ipswich Town.

The match was dominated by Rayan Ait-Nouri’s bust-up at full-time, following on from a similar incident involving Mario Lemina against West Ham.

Matheus Cunha has been charged for his behaviour after Ipswich, in what has been a tough time for the squad with tensions rising.

With Pereira’s arrival, the players will have the opportunity to capitalise on a clean slate and are preparing to meet their new boss this week.

According to The Athletic, the club hope that Pereira will meet his players on Wednesday [18/12/24] to begin preparing for the trip to the King Power Stadium.

With O’Neil’s backroom staff gone, it will be interesting to see who follows Pereira to Compton.

What the squad did after Gary O’Neil was sacked

In what has been a week of change for the already unsettled squad, the players were handed a day off after Sunday’s dismissal.

The Athletic’s report details that after having Monday off, Wolves returned to training on the Tuesday, a session led by some familiar faces at the club.

U21’s coaches James Collins and Ricard Walker led the session, which could be the last before Pereira is unveiled.

It’s been difficult for the players who are readying themselves to adapt to change following the switch in manager.

Cunha was the first to react to O’Neil’s departure, with a limited number of the squad publicly commenting on the sacking, which is rather surprising.
