Emmanuel Agbadou was one of the players welcomed in January to become a firm starter at Wolves.
The Ivorian has impressed since trading Ligue 1 for the Premier League, showing his worth against Spurs with a monstrous performance.
After the game, Pereira commented on Agbadou’s display against Tottenham, revealing something that made his individual performance even better.
“The player I need to thank a lot for playing is Agba, because Agba was sick yesterday and maybe not in condition to play,” Pereira told the media in his post-match press conference.
“He has a problem in the finger with a lot of pain. He was coughing. But in the period he came back to help the team and I thank him.”
Pereira revealed that Agbadou was unwell and in pain due to a finger injury, but still, the Ivory Coast international managed to act as Wolves’ enforcer at the back.
Agbadou was one of Wolves’ best against Spurs
Given how the season started defensively for Wolves, it’s been a remarkable turn of events for the Old Gold.
Pereira’s signing of Agbadou was a triumph, as the Ivorian keeps proving alongside Toti Gomes and Matt Doherty in the holding three.

Despite being far from full fitness, Agbadou was instrumental against Spurs, making 11 defensive actions and winning seven out of his nine attempted duels.
The Lilywhites were left frustrated by Wolves, a narrative that couldn’t be said of the Old Gold’s defence that had leaked 40 goals at the time of Gary O’Neil’s departure.
