What the Premier League have just announced will have major implications for Wolves

Wolves were one of the sides included in the FA’s decision to introduce Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT) earlier in the season, and it seems the pilot scheme was considered a success.

Wolves’ game against Bournemouth was affected by SAOT after regulatory bodies confirmed the FA Cup’s fifth-round fixtures would be included in the technology’s pilot scheme.

The Premier League have now decided to follow suit with the latest technology set to be introduced into England’s top flight before the end of the season.

Premier League make Semi-Automated Offside Technology announcement

The SAOT’s first trial went well and now the Premier League have confirmed plans to use the technology during Game Week 32.

A statement on the official Premier League website read: “It provides more efficient placement of the virtual offside line, using optical player tracking, and generates virtual graphics to ensure an enhanced in-stadium and broadcast experience for fans.

“The technology maintains the integrity of the process while enhancing the speed, efficiency, and consistency of offside decision-making.”

Wolves, who play at Molineux on Game Week 32, will be affected by the new technology again.

Wolves vs Spurs included in plans

Wolves are due to host Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs at home on April 13, 2025.

With three league games still to play before the Lilywhites travel to the Midlands, Wolves will be hoping they’ll be a lot closer to guaranteed safety by then.

Nevertheless, regardless of both club’s positions come this month’s halfway mark, Molineux will host SAOT for the first time in its history.

Game Week 32’s match between Wolves and Spurs is scheduled to kick off at 2 p.m. BST.
