What Rob Edwards has told Middlesbrough about Wolves move as accusations start flying

It’s yet another twist in the tale of Rob Edwards’ potential move to Wolves as tensions with Middlesbrough escalate.

Life as a Wolves fan has been far from easy this season, so more fool us for thinking the search for a new manager would be any different.

Edwards wants to come to Wolves, and it has looked more likely with each passing hour that this move will go through.

On that note, Middlesbrough have stood Edwards down ahead of Birmingham, and released a statement saying they have agreed to let Edwards talk to Wolves.

That chapter of his short career looks to be coming to a close. But not without a bit of drama.

Rob Edwards tells Middlesbrough the Wolves job is too good to turn down

As a former player and coach at Molineux, Edwards has a close connection to Wolves.

As such, the prospect of taking the reins is extremely appealing, and he has told his current employers as much.

John Percy, writing for The Telegraph, reveals: “A former Wolves defender and academy coach, the 42-year-old has a long association with the club and told Boro’s hierarchy that it was a job he would find impossible to turn down.”

That tells us all we need to know. Wolves want Edwards. Edwards want Wolves.

It sounds like this should be wrapped up in short order — but not before Middlesbrough express their concerns, it would seem.

Middlesbrough accuse Wolves of misconduct over Edwards

Having just brought Edwards in this summer, and having seen his impact, it’s understandable that the Championship outfit aren’t best pleased at the new developments.

They have a contract with Edwards, but as we know, that’s just part of the recipe. Edwards clearly has his heart set on Molineux, and it’s hard to see a way forward that doesn’t see him on the sideline against Palace at the end of the month.

But Middlesbrough won’t take this coup lying down, accusing Wolves of breaching Premier League regulations.

The club just released a statement of the same, writing: “Unfortunately Wolves have behaved at a standard less than we expect and we believe their conduct is in breach of PL regulations.”

This saga reads like a soap opera, and this latest episode is sure to grab the headlines. But the important thing is that Wolves get their man, and now that Middlesbrough are permitting talks, that looks like happening quite soon.
