What Rob Edwards did on 95 minutes for Wolves against Everton was very significant

Wolves took a point against Everton on Wednesday night to make it three games unbeaten in the Premier League – and Rob Edwards made a significant decision towards the end of the contest.

Wolves drew 1-1 with Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, showing good character to come from behind.

Michael Keane opened the scoring for the hosts, turning in a wild shot from Tim Iroegbunam.

But Wolves got level in the second-half, with Jorgen Strand Larsen – on as a substitute again – supplying a great assist for Mateus Mane to score his second goal for the club.

The game then descended into chaos, with Everton having two players sent off in Michael Keane and Jack Grealish.

Wolves then tried to break Everton down in the closing stages but failed to do so, and the spoils were shared.

And just before the game ended, Rob Edwards did something that was quite significant.

Pedro Lima set for Wolves chance after minutes vs Everton

Earlier this week, Wolves brought Pedro Lima back from his loan spell at FC Porto.

Lima had only made a handful of appearances for their B team, which was a slight shame as the plan had been for him to eventually play first-team football there.

Ahead of the game with Everton, Edwards spoke about Lima and suggested things were still open with him regarding his future.

The manager stated that he was aware that Lima playing for Wolves would lock him in for the rest of the season, and that he wouldn’t be able to go on loan anywhere else.

Lima travelled with the Wolves squad to face Everton, and then was surprisingly named as part of the matchday squad.

And then, Lima actually got on for Wolves in the 95th minute.

That was significant, because Lima can now only play for Wolves or Porto this season. There had been plans to send him out on loan elsewhere, but Edwards has been impressed with the youngster and looks ready to give him a chance.

Ki-Jana Hoever set for Sheffield United loan

It was reported by Liam Keen ahead of last night’s game that Ki-Jana Hoever is set to join Sheffield United on loan for the rest of the season.

Hoever was not included in last night’s squad by Edwards, so it seems official confirmation of the move will not be far away.

Interestingly, it is also reported by Keen that Hoever’s contract at Wolves expires in 2027, not 2026 as has been listed elsewhere.

Wolves fans had been critical of Hoever for his performances this season and it seems Edwards has also not been convinced.

Lima’s return to Wolves had cast doubt on Hoever’s immediate future, and now the Dutchman will play his football at Bramall Lane.
