What Matt Jarvis has noticed about Wolves players as they hunt their first Premier League win

We’re almost two months into the season and Wolves are still searching for a maiden victory in the Premier League.

The longer Wolves go without getting three points, the more monotonous discussing the fact gets.

It’s close. Vitor Pereira’s side has looked much closer to the level required, and with favourable fixtures after the break, a win is surely on the horizon.

But for now, it’s still just two points from seven, and naturally, it’s starting to get to the Wolves players.

Matt Jarvis says winless streak is weighing on Wolves

There is plenty of encouragement to take from two games unbeaten against tough opposition in Brighton and Spurs, but that won’t prevent heads from dropping as the unwanted streak is extended.

Conor Coady was concerned with reactions after the most recent Premier League outing, where Wolves let a lead slip away in the final minutes.

And now, former Wolves midfielder Matt Jarvis has chimed in with a similar observation, as the BBC reports.

On Pereira and the players, Jarvis remarks: “He’s just trying to get it over the line and get that first win, and it’s weighing heavily on everyone, including the manager, but you can see it from the players’ point of view as well that they are distraught and disappointed.”

While the dejected look on many faces is a bit concerning, it also shows the players are desperate to turn this bad patch around.

Wolves need to stay positive for must-win games

The disappointment we have seen is a natural human reaction to the repeated failures they are experiencing, but resilience is needed.

As we all know by now, it’s Sunderland and Burnley up next for Wolves. Two promoted sides who have enjoyed better starts than Pereira’s men.

Sunderland, especially, are flying on their return to the Premier League, currently ninth in the standings.

But form aside, ties against promoted sides are as good an opportunity as Wolves will get to put three points on the board, and they need to ensure the mentality is right.

As Jarvis puts it: “You can definitely draw positives – confidence in our unbeaten run, performances have improved – your focus is always on looking at these two games coming up. They are huge. These are must-win games.”
