It was heartbreak for Wolves on Saturday afternoon as they suffered a penalty shootout defeat against Bournemouth in the FA Cup.
In a crazy game at the Vitality Stadium, it was Bournemouth who drew first blood, as Evanilson pounced on a loose ball in the box after Sam Johnstone spilled Antoine Semenyo’s effort.
The Cherries then thought they doubled their lead but Milos Kerkez’s goal was ruled out for offside after it took seven minutes for VAR to make a decision.
Fortunately, Wolves had Matheus Cunha to thank once more, as his stunning strike from outside the box drew his side level.
But whilst he was the hero on that occasion, the 25-year-old was sent off in the final minute of extra time after he headbutted Kerkez.
Wolves ended up losing the penalty shootout as both Matt Doherty and Boubacar Traore missed their penalties, with Cunha making a fool of himself in the process.

Matheus Cunha loses his head after extra time against Bournemouth
In their defeat at the Vitality Stadium, Wolves fans saw the good, the bad, and the ugly of their No.10.
Having dragged his side level with a phenomenal finish, the game was poised to reach penalties, with the Brazilian one of the prime candidates to step up.
But after tempers flared, flailing his arms and headbutting Kerkez, he gave the referee no choice with his decision, sending him straight off.
Failing to accept his actions and walk off the pitch in a controlled manner, the Brazilian forward refused to leave the pitch and had to be held back by substitute goalkeeper Dan Bentley, as per journalist Nathan Judah.
A similar incident happened earlier on in the season, as Rayan Ait-Nouri lost his head against Ipswich and was sent off in Gary O’Neil’s final game in charge.
Sadly, the repercussions of Cunha’s actions impacted his teammates in that game and could now derail their season.
What games Cunha will miss for Wolves
There’s no denying how important the incredible forward is to their chances of survival, netting his 15th goal of the campaign in some style.
But on an afternoon where he demonstrated the petulant side of his game, a straight red card for violent conduct means Cunha will miss three matches.

This includes three relegation six-pointers against Everton, Southampton and West Ham, leaving Pereira to prepare without their best player available.
Surviving relegation, even with a five-point gap was never going to be easy, but it’s been made a whole lot harder without Cunha’s undeniable influence.
