Manchester City are set to make a second bid for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes – but there is one thing they just will not do.
The Citizens have seen one bid worth £47 million, rising to £55 million, rejected.
That offer was way short of Wolves’ valuation of the player.
But it is now being suggested that City will return with an improved offer to test Wolves’ resolve.
Wolves don’t want to lose the player. But they will listen to large offers as a result of their concerning financial situation.
What Man City will not do as they try to sign Matheus Nunes from Wolves
It is being reported now that City are intent on making a fresh bid for Nunes.

However, there is one thing that they just will not do as they attempt to land the Portuguese midfielder.
City won’t be held to ransom over the 24-year-old, according to journalist Mike Minay. If they feel Wolves’ valuation does not match their own internal valuation of the player, then they will happily walk away.
ESPN add that City simply will not ‘overpay’ for the former Sporting CP star.
They have apparently received encouragement that Wolves will listen to a second offer.
But Pep Guardiola’s side are said to be ‘adamant’ they will not pay over the odds.
At the moment it is still unclear how much Wolves would want for Nunes, although some have tentatively suggested it would take an offer of at least £60 million.
Boost for Wolves as Man City stance over Matheus Nunes shared
So City ‘will not be held to ransom’ over Nunes, and won’t pay over the odds.
This should make Wolves fans hoping Nunes stays at the club to feel a little better.
Because City are surely going to have to pay a huge fee to prise Nunes away from Molineux.

Wolves would be stung massively losing Nunes at this stage in the window.
Wanderers need to be compensated appropriately if Nunes is going to depart.
Of course, it all now depends on Wolves and what the actual asking price is. Hopefully it’s sky-high and City are forced to walk away.
