Jeff Shi is no longer Wolves’ chairman – and details about what life at Compton was like when he was in place are starting to emerge.
There was huge news on Friday night – on the eve of Wolves’ game with Brentford, that Shi had stepped down as Wolves’ executive chairman.
Others have reported that Shi was actually fired by Fosun.
Why did it take Fosun so long to come to a Jeff Shi realisation?😡
Either way, he no longer has operational duties at Wolves, and Nathan Shi (no relation) has stepped into the role of chairman on an interim basis.
Rob Edwards has praised Nathan Shi already, insisting he seems aligned with him going into January.
The new interim chairman was present at Molineux yesterday, casting his eye over proceedings as Wolves fell to a 2-0 defeat against Brentford.
The hope is that he will do a much better job than Jeff Shi, although it remains to be seen how long he’ll be around for.
But he surely can’t be worse than his predecessor, who apparently irked people behind the scenes with how he operated.
Jeff Shi’s dominance at Wolves left senior staffers ‘frustrated’

In recent times, the narrative has been that decisions at Wolves have been made more collaboratively.
The summer restructure resulted in several figures making key calls, including Vitor Pereira, Domenico Teti, Matt Jackson, Jorge Mendes and Valdir Cardoso.
Ultimately though, Jeff Shi would sign off on decisions.
He had ultimate power, and the Daily Mail report this did not sit well with some at the club.
Shi’s dominance, it’s said, ‘often left senior staffers feeling helpless and frustrated’. It’s claimed that decisions they knew would cause issues – such as raising ticket prices – were ‘bulldozed’ through.
It is also reiterated that recruitment staff had to take a backseat, with agents and Pereira allowed more freedom to construct the squad ahead of the 2025/26.
Jeff Shi’s position at Wolves was untenable
Ultimately, Shi was allowed to call the shots at Wolves for much longer than he should.
His position became untenable after that recent radio interview with the BBC, although many would argue his incompetence had been clear for months, if not years, beforehand.
Wolves fans, what do you make of Jeff Shi’s farewell message…😬
It is great news he is no longer the chairman, and perhaps the protests and pressure from fans genuinely help to force that decision from Fosun.
However, he has done a huge amount of damage which Wolves will end up paying for in a big way.
And sadly, Fosun still remain at the helm. And while this is the case, a dark cloud will be hanging over Molineux.
