Jorgen Strand Larsen was taken off in the 76th minute against Brighton, when Wolves were 1-0 up.
It was the second weekend running where Jorgen Strand Larsen had to watch from the sidelines as Wolves fumbled a lead late on.
Strand Larsen revealed that he’s still not 100% last week, and when he was absent from Wolves training in the days before facing Brighton, it was assumed he wouldn’t play.
But he started up top on Sunday in what felt like a boost for the team’s chances. It wouldn’t work out that way, and Strand Larsen’s reaction after the final whistle paints a picture of frustration that is being felt throughout the club.
Jorgen Strand Larsen was heated at full-time
The Norwegian came off with 15 minutes to go, likely thinking Wolves were on course for a first league win.
But Jan Paul van Hecke spoiled the afternoon with his equaliser, much to the displeasure of Strand Larsen.
Those close to the Wolves dugout will have seen an ‘angry reaction’ that involved one of the coaches, as is reported by The Athletic.
Steve Madeley writes: “The Wolverhampton Wanderers No 9 leapt from the substitutes’ bench, from where he had watched his side surrender a 1-0 lead for the second weekend in succession, and aimed angry words at first-team coach Andre Monteiro.
“Then he marched onto the pitch to shake hands with team-mates, opponents and officials and applaud supporters in the South Bank, but the Norway international opted to continue his rant to anyone who would listen.”

This reaction from the Wolves striker is understandable. Wolves’ concession of the equaliser was self-inflicted. Strand Larsen’s emotional outburst will have resonated with many Wolves fans, but it’s a worrying omen for morale at the club.
Wolves need Strand Larsen at 100%
Since suffering a knock in the initial weeks of the campaign, Strand Larsen hasn’t returned to full fitness.
This is evident in his performances, and Wolves are struggling as a result.
While new signing Tolu Arokodare is settling in well and looks a good player, his fellow striker is Wolves’ most important player.
He needs to be fit and firing if Wolves are to mount a comeback on the teams ahead of them.
The international break hasn’t come at the best time, as it feels like Wolves are really progressing lately, but it should give Strand Larsen ample time to recover.
At least, that’s the hope.
