What Jonny Castro Otto actually did at Wolves to get banished from the first-team

The details behind the training ground incident at Wolves involving Jonny Castro Otto have now been shared.

The wing-back was recently exiled from the first-team after an incident was reported following the game with Arsenal, when Jonny was not in the matchday squad.

Gary O’Neil did not give much away when speaking about why Jonny had been left out, but then word came from the club that Jonny had been banished from the first-team until the end of January.

Details about what actually happened had not been made public – until now…

The Athletic have this evening published a story about Jonny regarding the incident that led to his exile by the club – and it makes for grim reading.

According to the publication, Jonny was understood to have been annoyed by a challenge from youngster Tawanda Chirewa in a training session.

He apparently aimed an elbow at him, but ‘did not make contact’. Chirewa was not harmed and was able to continue and finish the session.

Then, one of Gary O’Neil’s coaches was taking Jonny away in an attempt to diffuse the situation, but Jonny then spat at him, it is claimed. He was ordered to leave the field and return inside the buildings at Compton.

That is not the end of it. Jonny then allegedly smashed a TV and caused damage to a table in the area where players relax, and was then sent home.

Extremely disappointing from Jonny

Wolves fans had been hoping that whatever Jonny did wasn’t too bad, although given his banishment by the club until the end of January, that was perhaps wishful thinking.

The details published by The Athletic this evening make for incredible reading.

Jonny – who was last night praised by James Collins after his appearance for the U21s – has long been known for his professionalism, but his behaviour in this incident is appalling.

He may have apologised, according to Matt Hobbs, but it is now very difficult to see how there can be any way back for him at Molineux.
