All Wolves fans can agree that this season has dragged on, and Jeff Shi’s September interview previewing the season feels like a lifetime ago.
In the time since, Wolves have managed just one win in the Carabao Cup, and three different managers have been on the sideline.
Shi has lost the trust of Wolves fans. That much has been made clear from the recent protests at Molineux.
But looking back on the rare interview given by Fosun’s man on the ground drives home just how out of touch he is with the football club.

Jeff Shi played down Wolves’ winless start and set a more realistic target
Shi sat down for an interview for Wolves YouTube just days after the transfer window shut, and began by saying he was happy with the recruitment done. Strike one.
By this point, Wolves had played three Premier League fixtures, losing each and every one.
Asked whether he was concerned about the slow start to the season, Shi said: “When I say about the start of the season, I mean at least 10 games, 15 games, you know. It’s not three games so I think yeah of course and if we win we are more happy but it’s a long time to go for the season.”
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 17 | 15 | 4 | 3 | 8 | 14 | 25 | -11 | 15 | |
| 18 | 15 | 3 | 4 | 8 | 17 | 29 | -12 | 13 | |
| 19 | 15 | 3 | 1 | 11 | 16 | 30 | -14 | 10 | |
| 20 | 15 | 0 | 2 | 13 | 8 | 33 | -25 | 2 |
Well, we’ve passed the 15-game mark, with Wolves collecting two points along the way. Shi wanted to hold off on judgment until now. Well, the verdict is still the same.
He continued: “It’s not about the results in the first three or whatever, but we still have got a win and from the cup. Maybe we will have a good cup run. You never know, right?”
That didn’t happen either. Shi was talking as though the job he did over the summer was so good that it was bound to work out. It didn’t.
The summer of 2025 was a brilliant transfer window in Jeff Shi’s eyes… 🥴
The pressure is on Jeff Shi as Wolves fans reach breaking point
With Wolves fans demonstrating at Molineux on Monday, Shi will surely be feeling the noose tightening.
He’s admittedly in an unfortunate position. Shi is the object of Wolves fans’ ire, seen as the face of Fosun.
On the other end, Fosun are blaming Shi for the club’s struggles — a real lose-lose.
