What Dutch media said about Wolves loanee Hugo Bueno after beating Bruno Lage in Champions League

Wolves loanee Hugo Bueno was in action in the Champions League with Feyenoord on Wednesday night.

The left-back left Molineux to join the Eredivisie club on loan for the season, where he is embarking on a Champions League dream.

Last night, Bueno faced former Wolves manager Bruno Lage on the European stage, ending the evening on the winning side.

Feyenoord stunned Benfica in Portugal, winning 3-1, handing Lage his first defeat since taking charge of the club in September.

Dutch media react to Wolves loanee Hugo Bueno

Bueno played a significant part in Feyenoord’s win, spending 88 minutes on the pitch after putting in a shift both going forward and defending.

After the game, the media in the Netherlands reacted to what was a memorable night for Feyenoord, sharing their verdict on Bueno and his teammates.

Voetbal Primeur was very complimentary of the Wolves defender, dubbing him ‘stress-resistant’ for his display. 

“By now we can conclude that Bueno is an excellent asset to Feyenoord. The Spaniard is also a real Spaniard on the ball: incredibly comfortable and stress-resistant. He also held his own defensively.”

The outlet awarded Bueno a 7.5/10 match rating, which was a similar grade to VI, who awarded the left-back an 8/10 for his efforts. 

Voetbal Zone was less impressed by the fullback’s approach, giving the Spaniard a 6.5/10 rating and commenting, “Hugo Bueno had a bit more trouble and lost the ball a few times.”

The general view is that Bueno played a valuable part in Feyenoord’s victory, with Voetball Flirsen awarding the 22-year-old a 7/10.

All in all, it was a memorable night in the Wolves loanee’s career, earning the win over his former manager at Molineux.

After the game, Bueno posted a photo on his Instagram story to remember the occasion, captioning the post, “This team, let’s gooo.”

It’s refreshing to see the defender relishing his time on loan, with his success beneficial to Wolves with regard to his return to the West Midlands in the summer.

It will be interesting to learn how Gary O’Neil is assessing Bueno, with a thought to his future at Wolves when his loan expires.
