What David Moller Wolfe just admitted after making Wolves debut bodes extremely well

New signing David Moller Wolfe made his debut on Saturday as Wolves fell to a 1-0 defeat against Celta Vigo in their final game of pre-season.

It was an unconvincing pre-season for Wolves as they get to grips with life after Matheus Cunha and the rest. They failed to win any of their summer fixtures, showing promise at times but overall not giving fans much to be excited about.

One positive from the mostly disappointing Celta Vigo game was getting to see David Moller Wolfe in action, as Vitor Pereira gave him the first half to show what he can do.

The Norwegian played high on the wing when Wolves had possession, offering an out-ball for the defenders behind him and showing some threat in the final third. After the game, Moller Wolfe was all positive about his first minutes in a Wolves shirt.

David Moller Wolfe shares thoughts on new position for Wolves

The £10 million signing gave an interview for the official Wolves website where he discussed his on-pitch experience at the weekend.

He acknowledged that some adaptation will be needed to a new tactical system, saying: “I want to get out there and show what I can do but also, I need time to be completely comfortable and confident in the position that I play, because it’s a bit of a different position what I’ve been playing the last couple of years.”

But Moller Wolfe is confident he can get up to speed and begin showing why he’s the man to replace Rayan Ait-Nouri on the left flank: “But I think it’s a position that suits me incredibly well, and as soon as I get in the rhythm and stuff like that, I don’t only want to go out and play and just be a part of the team, but I want to deliver good things for the club.”

Great to see such ambition from Wolves’ new left-back.

Vitor Pereira has a decision to make ahead of Premier League opener vs Manchester City

Moller Wolfe was taken off at half-time and replaced by Hugo Bueno.

This decision was made far in advance, as the Norwegian explained: “It was already decided before the game that I was only going to play 45 minutes because it’s been a long time for me since I last played.”

A knock in the opening minutes raised concerns over Moller Wolfe’s fitness, but those have been cleared up, and he should be available for the Man City game.

But Pereira has a decision to make between Bueno and Moller Wolfe as to who should start. In any case, Moller Wolfe’s mind is on performing for his new club: “If the coach puts me in the starting line-up, I’ll be ready, and I’ll do everything I can.”
