Wolves got their first win in the Premier League at the weekend against West Ham United – and Hwang Hee-chan made a decisive impact.
Rob Edwards and the players finally tasted victory, running out 3-0 winners against the Hammers at Molineux.
It was a thoroughly deserved win for Wolves, who looked after the ball well and were clinical on the day.
Mateus Mane put in a stunning display and has been the talk of the town since the game.
But many other players had good games, including Hugo Bueno, Joao Gomes, Jose Sa and Jhon Arias.
Ditto Hwang Hee-chan, who now has 30 Premier League goal involvements for Wolves, with only Raul Jimenez and Matheus Cunha recording more for the club.
Hwang has responded well to the arrival of Edwards, and Dave Edwards has shared something about the South Korean that bodes well.

Hwang Hee-chan has looked sharp in Wolves training recently

Hwang had a difficult start to the 2025/26 season. But then, so many other Wolves players did too.
Under Vitor Pereira, he didn’t always start but when he did, he struggled to make an impact.
But the arrival of Edwards in November has been good for Hwang, who has started the last five Premier League games now.
His display against West Ham was easily his best of the season for Wolves, and his recent upturn comes as no surprise to Dave Edwards, who clocked him in training at Compton Park recently.
He said: “Hwang has really come back into form, he’s looked sharp. I went to watch training a few weeks ago and he looked brilliant, and I think we’re seeing that on the pitch.
Hwang’s goal and assist vs West Ham takes him to 30 G/A for Wolves in the Premier League… 👏
How do you rate his time at Wolves? 🤔
“It is very much the best version of Hwang that we’ve seen since that brilliant goalscoring season a few years ago.”
The best version of Hwang we have ever seen came in the 2023/24 season, when he regularly impressed in a front line with Matheus Cunha and Pedro Neto. Under Gary O’Neil, he finished that campaign with 13 Premier League goals to his name.
Wolves need Hwang in form
Wolves have a huge amount of work to do if they are to give themselves a chance of staying up.
But what would really help, is if Hwang rediscovered his mojo, and he is showing signs of doing that at the moment.
His display against West Ham was great, and it followed a lively one against United.

We know that on his day, Hwang can be a nightmare for the opposition.
It’s all about playing him in the right system and getting him into areas where he can threaten and in recent games we’ve been seeing that.
Hwang has praised Edwards and it’s clear that he’s relished his appointment, so hopefully he can keep building under him.
