What Chelsea fans are saying about former Wolves star Pedro Neto after his display vs Real Betis

Pedro Neto picked up his first piece of silverware for Chelsea since joining from Wolves in the summer, and supporters had a lot to say about his performance.

Neto became Wolves’ record sale when they sold him to the Blues for £54 million last summer.

The Portuguese superstar earned the right to move to a bigger club after starring for years at Molineux, and becoming one of the division’s best wingers.

The 25-year-old was known for his searing pace and incredible footwork, but at Chelsea, Neto has become one of the Premier League’s worst dribblers, according to the data.

It hasn’t been the easiest first campaign at Stamford Bridge, yet he’s still produced six goals and nine assists in all competitions, while lifting the Europa Conference League on Wednesday.

Chelsea fans react to Pedro Neto’s display vs Real Betis

Enzo Maresca’s men came from behind to thrash Real Betis 4-1 and lift the Conference League, becoming the first English team to lift every available trophy.

Chelsea fans have often criticised Neto for his performances this term, and their criticism of the winger continued in this final.

Neto played 61 minutes but offered very little in terms of quality before being substituted for Jadon Sancho, who came off the bench to score.

Reacting to his performance via X, one fan said: “Neto and Madueke can’t move the club forward or get us anywhere. These fools can’t dribble or win 1vs1 against defenders just crossing everything they see.”

“Neto OUT Badiashile OUT,” another fan commented while a third said: “Neto and Madueke not affecting the game at all.”

“Game changed when Pedro Neto was substituted for Sancho,” someone else pointed out and another posted: “We need to offload Pedro Neto as soon as possible.”

Neto’s stats vs Real Betis

The pressure of playing for a team like Chelsea is ramped up compared to Wolves. He was brilliant at Molineux because he could use his pace and running power to hurt teams on the counterattack. In contrast, under Maresca, there is an onus on dominating possession and breaking down low blocks.

That is why Neto has often struggled to showcase his best form at Stamford Bridge, as he’s someone who thrives with space to run into on the counter instead of playing possession.

The statistics suggest it wasn’t the worst performance from the Portuguese, who made key passes, but it’s clear he must improve his all-round game or risk losing his place in the lineup.
