Andre is quickly becoming one of Wolves most invaluable players, with Vitor Pereira responsible for getting the best out of the Brazilian talent.
Pereira switched Andre into the number six role on his own, which in turn has created more freedom for Joao Gomes to move forward and give Wolves a solid base in front of their back three.
Dave Edwards thinks Andre is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League, with performances against Everton and Southampton backing up that claim.
The 23-year-old was sensational in the win at St Mary’s last weekend, as Danny Murphy lauded Andre as ‘quality’.
Now, the former Fluminense playmaker is showcasing his talent on the international stage after being called up by Brazil.

What Brazil’s media said about Andre’s performance against Colombia
Matheus Cunha joined Andre in being selected by Dorival Junior for their World Cup Qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina.
In the early hours of Friday morning, it was Vinicius Junior’s 99th-minute winner that saw Brazil edge past Colombia, in what wasn’t the most convincing performance.
Wolves supporters will have been intrigued to hear how their stars fared in the match. Both were unfortunately named on the bench however, it was Andre who made an incredible impression in the second half, replacing Bruno Guimaraes in the 78th minute.
- 12 minutes played
- 8/8 passes completed (100%)
- 1 ground duel won
- 1 interception
- 1 tackle
Reacting to his cameo, Brazilian outlet Correio Braziliense gave him a 5/10 rating and wrote: “During the time he was on the field, he did little to warrant evaluation. In injury time, he missed the chance to complete a cross.”
Globe Esporte, meanwhile, gave Andre a 6/10 and noticed he didn’t misplace a single pass, writing: “He came on towards the end of the game and, with Brazil on the attack most of the time, he didn’t have much trouble. He was efficient and didn’t miss any passes.”
Andre is sixth in the Premier League for pass completion
There was no surprise that Andre came on the pitch and was tidy in possession. He’s been doing that all season long for Wolves, and as highlighted by FBref, ranks in sixth in the Premier League for pass completion in 2024/25.
Name | Pass completion |
Manuel Akanji | 93.9% |
Curtis Jones | 93.6% |
Ruben Dias | 93.5% |
William Saliba | 93.5% |
Mateo Kovacic | 92.9% |
Andre | 92.7% |
The Brazilian playmaker is among the leagues elite for accurate passing, posting 92.7% across the campaign, especially considering the other stars on the list.
The likes of Manuel Akanji, William Saliba, Curtis Jones, Ruben Dias and Mateo Kovacic all play for clubs fighting for the Champions League or, in the case of Liverpool, the league title. Whereas Andre is turning out for a side battling relegation, making his inclusion all the more impressive.
