The vibes around Wolves are low at present, after a disappointing pre-season where Wolves couldn’t manage a single win. Fans seem to be on the same page.
The result against Celta Vigo was disappointing, but that’s not really where the fans’ reactions are coming from.
This summer, Wolves have lost a host of important players while only making four new signings. The Premier League season starts this weekend, and the squad is in a worse spot than when Vitor Pereira took over last Christmas.
Supporters of the club have not been shy about letting their feelings be known.
Wolves fans not happy with pre-season performance and lack of signings
The verdict from Wolves fans has been resounding. Fans aren’t happy with the lack of quality performances and believe not enough has been done to start the season strong.
Following the final friendly, fans took to X to voice their concerns: “Been to 3 pre-season friendlies-Stoke, Lens and Celta Vigo – We have got progressively worse EVERY SINGLE GAME. This is the worst team we have had EVER in the Premier league. We need at least 4 players before the start of this season. Jeff Shi can you politely Leave the wolves
Similarly, this fan pins much of the blame on the owners: “Another dismal pre-season, another dismal transfer window, another manager desperate for investment. Lopetegui, O’Neil and now Pereira – at some point you have to admit it’s not the managers, it’s the owners.”
The need for more signings dominates the discourse, like what this fan says: “We need at least 4 players mate because currently that team finishes in the bottom 4. Disastrous pre-season, owners dragging their heels with signing players, VP visibly frustrated. Groundhog Day.”
Many fans are worried about Wolves’ prospects in the league: “We have some good players but the performance has been poor lately, not a win throughout the pre-season friendly, my question is can we survive premier league this season?”
History suggests a bleak outlook for the new campaign: “As a Wolves fan we are under no illusions about how brutal the Premier League is. We have seen Wolves teams not at the level get hammered. We have seen relegations. This team is as way off as 2003-04 and 2011-12. The eye test.”
Looking ahead to next week’s opener against Man City, fans aren’t feeling too optimistic: “Lamentable. Sick of this ownership. What a waste of a pre-season that was. Give Haaland that same space in the box next week and it’ll be a cricket score. Lage in 2022 complained about not getting singings in a timely fashion. We’re 5 players short with a week to go #FosunOut.”
“Pre-Season ends with no wins, including a 1-0 loss against Celta Vigo today.🇪🇸 As the Premier League starts next weekend, there has been 13 players out with only 3 players come in. It’s certainly not good for Wolves and shocking that Fosun have let it come to this”, says another disgruntled supporter.
While the dominating feeling is negative, at least one Wolves fan isn’t panicking yet: “I don’t care about the pre-season, the season before everyone was saying Wolves would be relegated.”
Wolves need a strong August or fans will be calling for Fosun to sell
Starting the season strong has not been the club’s forte since returning to the Premier League, with just one win in August in seven years for Wolves.
The fixtures aren’t easy by any means, but there are opportunities for points that must be taken.

Tensions between Fosun and the fans are rising, and another requirement is for more new signings in what’s left of the window.
If neither comes to pass, even Vitor Pereira won’t be immune from criticism, although most fans seem to acknowledge the lack of support he is receiving. All eyes will be on Molineux on Saturday for the first game in what could be a very long season indeed.
