‘We’re good mates’: Max Kilman says he still speaks to player Wolves sold for £7m all the time

New Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Max Kilman has had the opportunity to learn from some real leaders in his career.

Therefore, despite being just 26-years-old however already he possesses some top leadership qualities

Kilman’s former teammate at Maidenhead, James Comley emphasised this saying: “Max stands for professionalism, doing things right,”

Kilman himself has name-dropped former Molineux captain Conor Coady as his biggest influence as a captain.

Describing how Coady helped him and also how the two remain in contact even now.

Speaking on his relationship with Coady

Speaking to The Athletic, Kilman praised the now Leicester City defender who was sold for £7.5million, revealing that he and Coady remain in contact.

“’Coads was obviously great and we still speak a lot now. We’re good mates. He was very important because every time I played for Wolves at the start, he was playing as well, so he helped a lot by guiding me through games.”

Continuing, Kilman explained that he learned a lot from the previous defenders crop at Wolves.

“I learned from him, as well as the other defenders, Saiss, (Willy) Boly, (Ryan) Bennett. I always looked to them and they were good role models for me.

The English defender then concluded by suggesting he didn’t see himself as a captain earlier in his career, but believes he grew into the role.

“Back then, I didn’t think I’d ever be captain because I was shy and wasn’t as vocal and outgoing as I am now.

“Coads did it so well, so I wasn’t thinking about replicating him because I didn’t think I’d be in this position.”

Kilman makes his Molineux captaincy bow

Tomorrow at 3pm UK time, Kilman will lead out Wolves at the Molineux with a stern challenging set to greet them.

Arguably the best football playing side in the league are the opposition tomorrow, with Roberto De Zerbi taking his talented Brighton side north.

Kilman will have to be on top form in both his defensive and captaincy duties if his is to repel what looked last week to be a rampant Seagulls attack.

Following the solid display at Old Trafford however, we are confident of picking up all three points.
