Watch as Wolves loanee Goncalo Guedes stuns Barcelona with cracker in 5-3 thriller

Goncalo Guedes has had a pretty uninspiring past year since leaving Wolves on loan for the first time, but on Saturday he enjoyed a very good outing for Villarreal.

The winger is onto his second loan spell of the season after leaving Benfica, where he struggled for minutes.

Guedes is now back in La Liga, which is a division he has probably enjoyed the most in his career. At Valencia he thrived, under a head coach he is playing for once again now in Marcelino.

Last night, Guedes made his second appearance for Villarreal, coming off the bench against Barcelona – and it was a decisive display from the star, as he helped his side to a thrilling 5-3 win…

Guedes made his debut for Villarreal against Mallorca last weekend, coming off the bench for a 20-minute cameo.

Last night, he was given a bit longer to make an impact – and he certainly made one.

It was a pulsating game tht saw Villarreal go 2-0 up, only for Barca to get back on level terms in the second-half and then actually take the lead on 71 minutes, with their three goals coming inside an 11 minute window.

But some awful defending late on allowed Villarreal to go on and win the game.

Guedes got his side back on level terms, collecting a through ball down the right side, taking one touch and then blasting the ball into the bottom corner.

After Alex Sortloth scored a scrappy fourth for Villarreal, Guedes then turned provider for Jose Luis Morales to wrap the game up. It was a great surge forward from Guedes and he had the vision to pick out Morales on the edge of the box for the finish.

Guedes impact good to see

It’s good to see Guedes making a big impact for Villarreal and Wolves officials will hope for more of this in the coming months.

It does not seem as though Guedes has a future at Molineux and so, this loan move is about the player increasing his market value ahead of the summer. There have also been suggestions that the player himself is not keen to continue his journey at Wolves.

Wanderers need him to find form, so that the club have a chance of recouping as much of the £27.5 million transfer fee they paid Valencia as possible.
