Vitor Pereira urged to keep starting 2019 Wolves signing, it’s ‘not even a conversation’

Wolves are hoping to turn a corner after beating Everton in the Carabao Cup, and former players Matt Murray and Andy Thompson believe one star has now nailed down his place in the starting XI.

Wolves are into the hat for the fourth round draw, after claiming a 2-0 victory over Everton at Molineux.

Marshall Munetsi and Tolu Arokodare scored for Wolves, who were much improved from the dismal defeat against Leeds United.

Vitor Pereira changed things up and went with a back four, which surprised many supporters.

There had been no hints that a back four was coming. But fans may now be hoping the system stays.

Of course, a back four uses traditional full-backs rather than wing-backs.

But despite this change, the outcome was still the same for Hugo Bueno in that the Spaniard played really well against Everton.

When Wolves signed David Moller Wolfe in the summer, Bueno may have felt a tad disappointed.

However, he has responded to that really well, and been one of the standout performers so far for Wolves.

Wolves have really struggled for the most part, but Bueno has been so positive on the left and constantly looked to make things happen.

And for Matt Murray and Andy Thompson, he should now be a nailed-on starter for Wolves.

Matt Murray said on Matchday Live Extra: “By the way, I’m putting Hugo Bueno as left wing-back. That’s not even a conversation for me. The balls he puts in, the quality…

Thompson said: “He’s a totally different player out there for us. Or he gives us a lot more than what we’ve had when he’s not been playing.

“He’ll have the ball, he’ll have a go, he’s positive. He’ll try and get the ball in. First-half, I thought he was great, and he was still going in the second.

“I think he just gives us that option about using that wing-back position.”

Bueno a shining light for Wolves

Bueno is one of only a handful of Wolves players who can hold their head high so far this season.

The Spaniard – who signed for the club in 2019 from CD Areosa – has appeared in all seven of Wolves’ games so far, and each time he’s taken to the field he’s been positive and a creative outlet.

With Rayan Ait-Nouri leaving in the summer, this is exactly what Pereira would have hoped for.

Moller Wolfe has a lot of work to do if he is to get minutes for Wolves at the moment, with Bueno now potentially nailing down the left wing-back position, with Rodrigo Gomes a further option for the manager.
