Vitor Pereira takes to social media with an ‘important’ Wolves message ahead of Man City

We’re fast approaching the first game of the Premier League season, with Wolves preparing to take on Manchester City on Saturday.

The start of the season can be a mixed bag of emotions.

As football fans, getting back to the action is always exciting, but there can also be nervousness regarding how the team will fare as all clubs start on zero.

Vitor Pereira will be looking to manage the players’ emotions, but when speaking to the fans, it’s clear he wants to provoke a positive reaction.

Vitor Pereira says Wolves are ready to fight for every moment

The boss took to Instagram on Thursday to issue a statement to fans ahead of the new campaign.

Pereira acknowledges the struggles Wolves have faced in pre-season, but believes that despite poor results, the group has benefited from an ‘important’ summer of hard work and togetherness.

Regarding the season ahead, he says: “The challenge will be tough, but our focus is clear and the mentality is right. We’re ready to fight for every moment.”

Encouraging words from the man who took Wolves from a very difficult position at Christmas to comfortable survival by the end of May.

He doesn’t think the team can do it alone, though, remarking: “And now, more than ever, we need our supporters. Your energy, your voice, your belief will make all the difference. At home or away, you’re part of this team. We feel it, and we fight for you.”

A strong statement of intent that will surely please Wolves fans.

Managing expectations for Premier League opener against Man City

City are a juggernaut. Of that there is no doubt.

This is the same side that won the treble a few seasons ago and pulled off the historic four-in-a-row in England’s top flight.

The game on Saturday will be difficult, and if the outcome is another opening day loss, Wolves supporters need to keep their emotions in check and avoid a negative atmosphere infesting the club so early in the season.

A loss to City wouldn’t be a catastrophe. They are a team that has won all but one of their last 14 openers, and have a striker in Erling Haaland who relishes Premier League opening day.

The performance will be more of a telling sign. If it’s the same level of intensity as pre-season, then by all means, panic.
