Vitor Pereira shares what he honestly made of Emmanuel Agbadou on Wolves debut vs Bristol City

Wolves have made it into the fourth round of the FA Cup, after beating Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Wolves beat the Championship side 2-1, but should have won by a bigger scoreline.

Vitor Pereira’s side dominated the first-half, with Rayan Ait-Nouri and the impressive Rodrigo Gomes both scoring to put Wolves in a commanding position.

But Wolves conceded a fairly cheap free-kick just before half-time, which was then converted by Scott Twine, with Sam Johnstone having no chance.

That set up a trickier second-half, and Wolves really stepped off the gas.

Chances were still created though, but Wolves were wasteful.

In the end, Wolves managed to see the game out, and it was a successful first outing for new signing Emmanuel Agbadou.

Agbadou officially joined Wolves just days before this game, and Pereira shared what he made of the Ivorian.

Agbadou lined up on the left of a back three for Wolves against Bristol City, in the Toti Gomes role.

It was not an alien position for him, but it’s not a role he’s played too often.

Agbandou gave an assured display and looked confident on the ball. He did misplace a few passes but by and large, Wolves’ newest signing looked solid.

Following his debut, Pereira gave his assessment, praising the 27-year-old.

He said: “I think he was consistent. To play on the left side without left foot is not easy, but he can play on the left and he played well.

“I think he realised today that the game never stops here. Fast free kicks, fast throw-ins, fast when the goalkeeper starts to play – the ball doesn’t stop. It never, never stops. It means the players don’t have the time to recover and to breathe a bit. That’s what we feel when we are looking at the game.

“I think he realised today the speed of the game. The game is every time fast. We need a team to be more comfortable with the ball, so the pace is our pace, not the pace that the opponent team wants, because this is a game without control. In my opinion, that’s what happened a bit in the second half.”

Agbadou looked good for Wolves

The debut of Agbadou was quietly impressive and Wolves fans can certainly be excited about him moving forward.

At times yesterday, the game was very fast-paced, and Agbadou got caught on a couple of occasions when he perhaps could have moved the ball quicker.

But that was probably to be expected having only just signed.

Regardless of that, Agbadou looked solid on his debut for Wolves, and definitely looked like he should be a regular starter in that defence already.

Hopefully Agbadou will soon get fully up to speed with the English game, and he can help Wolves to record clean sheets on a more regular basis.
