Vitor Pereira sets out exactly what players he wants to sign at Wolves this summer

From previous experiences, Wolves fans have disliked summer transfer windows under Fosun, but Vitor Pereira is determined to change that.

Fosun operate with a self-sustaining model. That has been evident over the years as Wolves continuously sell their best players without investing the bulk of their funds in the playing squad.

In the January transfer window, though, Wolves were the second-highest spenders in the Premier League behind Manchester City after completing the signings of Emmanuel Agbadou, Nasser Djiga, and Marshall Munetsi.

It was during that period when Wolves coincidentally climbed out towards safety, with the Portuguese boss earning huge credit for the job he’s done at Molineux.

That being said, Vitor Pereira is predicting ‘big things’ at Wolves and has lofty ambitions that he hopes to carry out in the transfer window.

Vitor Pereira reveals what sort of players he wants to sign at Wolves

After the 4-2 loss to Crystal Palace on Tuesday night, Pereira sent a subtle transfer message to Fosun, urging the Wolves owner to invest heavily in the playing squad.

The 56-year-old felt his much-changed side were unable to compete against the resurgent Eagles, sparking fears among the fanbase.

Wolves supporters are used to their club’s prolific failures in the transfer window and don’t hold out much hope of that changing this summer.

But, despite Fosun’s track record being poor, the owner is perhaps aware that not backing Pereira this summer could see him walk out of the club.

When speaking in his final pre-match press conference of the season, Pereira detailed the type of players he wants to sign this summer, relaying the importance of them loving the football club just as much as he does.

This suggests that he’s not just looking for quality on the pitch but players in the dressing room that fit into the ethos he’s looking for.

Wolves’ biggest positions of priority this summer

It feels as though Wolves are heading towards yet another squad overhaul this summer. Fabio Silva has interest from Atletico Madrid after impressing on loan at Las Palmas, while Matheus Cunha is closing in on a move to Manchester United.

Wolves have been linked to James McAtee from Man City as a possible replacement for Cunha, along with several other attacking midfielders.

That is the most important task on Pereira’s agenda but he’s also looking at a midfielder to challenge in the deep-lying role, with Tommy Doyle and Boubacar Traore expected to leave.

Cover at right wing-back is required if Nelson Semedo rejects his contract offer, and a back-up striker to compete with Jorgen Strand Larsen is necessary.

All in all, with a raft of players departing and plenty arriving, it promises to be a rollercoaster summer at Molineux.
