Vitor Pereira says he saw one Wolves player at his best level in the second-half vs Chelsea

Wolves fell just short against Chelsea, but Vitor Pereira was full of praise for one player who has struggled for game time recently.

Wolves are out of the Carabao Cup, losing 4-3 to the Blues. But there were plenty of positives to take from the game, with the second-half performance full of spirit.

Vitor Pereira took responsibility for that first-half display, having picked a strange team that included six defenders.

It really was a game of two halves at Molineux, but after the second, fans were much warmer towards the players and Pereira, after the fury we saw on Sunday following the defeat to Burnley.

There were quite a few positive to take, but after the game Pereira praised Toti Gomes following his return to the team.

Wolves were all at sea in the first-half.

The Blues scored through Andrey Santos, Tyrique George and then Estevao.

It was simply too easy for Chelsea, but at the break Pereira made changes, with Ladislav Kreci brought on to reinforce the midfield.

For the second-half, Wolves were a lot better – and Pereira dished out praise to Toti for his showing.

He said in his post-match press conference: “Today I saw Toti at his best level. Speaking about the second-half. Because in the first-half I assumed the responsibility.”

Pereira also had praise for Yerson Mosquera’s spirit.

Toti Gomes may get a chance against Fulham

Toti’s performance clearly left a good impression on Pereira, and this potentially now puts him in contention to play against Fulham.

Interestingly for Toti, Krejci’s superb showing in midfield actually may boost his starting prospects.

Of course, Wolves have been starting games with a back four lately, with Krejci and Santiago Bueno forming a partnership.

But the return of the back three from the start last night could be good news for Toti, and if he does get the nod on Saturday, then he must make the most of his chance.
