Vitor Pereira reveals triple injury blow ahead of Bristol City vs Wolves

Wolves face Bristol City in the FA Cup third round on Saturday with Vitor Pereira providing an injury update ahead of the fixture.

Wolves have a chance to quickly return to winning ways on the weekend as they travel to Ashton Gate for the cup.

A 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Monday inflicted Pereira’s first defeat as the Old Gold manager.

However, things were made much harder given the limited options Pereira had. Wolves had multiple injuries to their first team while Matheus Cunha was suspended for the tie

While the Brazilian will still be unable to play in the cup, Pereira has confirmed that injuries will still be a problem ahead of the cup.

Against Forest, Wolves only had one fit centre-half in Santiago Bueno. Toti Gomes had picked up an injury at the end of December.

On top of this, both Nelson Semedo and Craig Dawson had picked up knocks making them unavailable for Monday night’s fixture.

However, Pereira has now confirmed that the trio are still not fit for selection but Andre is now available again.

He said: “They are working to recover as soon as possible. I don’t think they (Toti, Semedo, Dawson) will be available. Andre is back in training with the group.”

On the face of it, Wolves’ tie against Bristol City has come at the best possible time.

Given the club’s current injury issues, the match will give the trio more time to recover ahead of an important match vs Newcastle next week.

Instead, Wolves’ youngsters will likely be given an opportunity to prove themselves to the new manager for the first time under his reign.

On top of this, Cunha’s ban extends to the FA Cup meaning that he will be available for selection against Newcastle as his two games will have been served.
