Vitor Pereira pinpoints Wolves player who ‘can score a goal from nothing’ just like Matheus Cunha

Wolves are taking on Tottenham Hotspur today and are hoping to make it three wins in a row in the Premier League.

Optimism around the club is high right now, with Vitor Pereira having won his first two games in charge.

Wolves have looked much more organised since Pereira took over, and have scored five goals without reply.

Wolves have managed to lift themselves out of the relegation zone as a result of the two victories, and fans are now hoping that Pereira will guide the club to safety.

There will be bumps in the road. But there have been big improvements in a very short space of time, which is massively encouraging.

Matheus Cunha has certainly played his part and, while he will play today against Spurs, Wolves know Cunha has a ban coming from the FA.

So it could be that Hwang Hee-chan has a chance to come back into the team – and he’s a player Pereira seems to like.

Against Manchester United, Hwang Hee-chan scored his first goal of the season.

It came right at the very end, when Tommy Doyle released Cunha after United had committed all but one outfield player forward.

Cunha squared the ball to Hwang, who made no mistake with the finish.

It’s been a difficult season for the South Korean, but the hope now is that he kicks on after scoring his first goal.

And Pereira sounds like a fan of his, describing him as a player who can ‘score a goal from nothing’, which is something most associate with Cunha.

He said ahead of the game with Spurs (via Wolves official): “It was very important because he’s a player with high quality, and I think he can score a goal from nothing. If he gets this confidence, he can give us a lot.”

Man United goal could be Hwang’s catalyst

The unselfish play from Cunha to allow Hwang to score against Manchester United may actually prove to be fairly significant.

Hwang – who is coveted by several clubs ahead of 2025 – has had a disappointing season due to loss of form and injury, but that goal will have done him the world of good.

He’s always come across as a confidence player, and that goal he scored against United could now serve as a catalyst. Fans will certainly hope it does.

Cunha will be banned soon and the fact Pereira has used Hwang as his first substitute in both games so far could be quite telling.

He may have been priming the £14 million man to replace the Brazilian, and thankfully he’s now broken his duck for the season. And it would be absolutely ideal if he could score against Spurs today.

It’s possible Hwang could start for Wolves against Spurs, perhaps in place of Goncalo Guedes.
