Vitor Pereira issues statement to fans after being sacked by Wolves

Vitor Pereira has spoken out for the first time since being sacked by Wolves.

The Portuguese head coach was relieved of his duties on Sunday morning as Jeff Shi confirmed his departure.

Brendan Rodgers has emerged as an early candidate, and Molineux News understands the former Celtic boss would consider the move.

Interestingly, Gary O’Neil has also been brought up for a remarkable return to Molineux, but it remains to be seen who takes the job.

However, now Vitor Pereira has delivered a message to fans as he departs.

Vitor Pereira sends message to Wolves fans following sacking

Just a few hours after he was sacked by Wolves, Vitor Pereira has issued his first words following the dismissal.

The 57-year-old head coach was sacked after a run of ten Premier League games without a win, and Wolves in last place on just two points in the table.

Speaking out on Instagram, Pereira said, “It has been a privilege to manage Wolverhampton Wanderers and experience unique moments with this club and its supporters.

“I would like to thank the club’s owners for their trust, the players for their hard work and commitment over these months, and all the staff for making me feel part of the family.

“I wish the club all the best for the rest of the season.”

Wolves will now begin their search for a new manager as they prepare to take on Chelsea on Saturday.

Vitor Pereira’s record at Wolves

Vitor Pereira ended his time at Wolves with just a win rate of 36%, which was largely affected by this season’s results.

He started off his time at the club so promisingly and steered the club safely away from relegation.

At the end of last season, it would have been difficult to see how things could sour so quickly, but a poor transfer window and a lack of ambition from the board have been two of the big causes.

If the issues from the top are not fixed, there is a chance the next manager at Wolves leaves in the same manner as Vitor Pereira.
