Wolves dramatically increased their Premier League survival chances on Boxing Day with a 2-0 victory over Man United.
Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan got the goals as the club moved out of the relegation zone and up to 17th.
While Bruno Fernandes’ second-half red card no doubt helped the situation, throughout the match, the visitors didn’t have a clear-cut chance.
Therefore, Pereira has managed to keep hold of his 100% start at the Old Gold since he took over the club last week.
Now, it has been revealed that the Wolves manager’s victory on Thursday has seen him break a record that has lasted nearly 50 years.
Vitor Pereira has become the first Wolves manager since 1977 to win his first two top-flight league matches

It has been an incredible turnaround at Wolves under the leadership of Pereira.
At the time of Gary O’Neil’s sacking in mid-December, the Old Gold had lost four consecutive games with a combined 12 goals conceded.
As a result, Wolves were 19th and five points from safety after their crushing late defeat at home to Ipswich.
Yet, despite being in charge for a week, Pereira has now overseen back-to-back victories, the same amount O’Neil had claimed in the 16 Premier League matches prior.
However, not only is this a sensational feat given Wolves’ position in the table but this has not been achieved at the club for almost 50 years.
The BBC has confirmed that Pereira’s back-to-back victories are the first time any Wolves manager has won his first two top-flight matches since Sammy Chung in 1977.

Vitor Pereira has allowed Wolves fans to believe again

As the whistle blew at full-time vs Ipswich less than two weeks ago, if you asked Wolves fans if they thought the club would stay up, the majority would have said no.
The crippling form O’Neil had been unable to shake throughout 2024 had deflated everyone associated with the Old Gold, especially the fanbase.
Yet, after only two games, there is now a real belief around Molineux. The players look like they know how to win again and the victory over Man United showed real discipline and character to see the result out.
While it is impossible to judge how the campaign will go after just two games, optimism going into 2025 is the highest it has been for months.
