Vitor Pereira eyeing Premier League upset as Wolves game plan hint revealed ahead of Liverpool

Wolves face a tough battle away to Liverpool on matchday 24 of the Premier League season.

The Old Gold lost 2-1 to Liverpool when Arne Slot’s side visited Molineux back in September but, things are very different now.

At the time of Liverpool’s visit, Gary O’Neil had led his Wolves squad to pick up just one point from their opening five games of the Premier League season.

Now boosted with confidence by Vitor Pereira’s arrival and with back-to-back wins in all competitions, Wolves will hope to cause an upset on Merseyside.

Vitor Pereira eager to cause an upset against Liverpool

While there have been some stumbling blocks along the way, Pereira’s record-breaking start at Wolves has undoubtedly boosted the squad’s outlook on the season.

Pereira isn’t fearing Premier League relegation, despite the fact that his side will head to Anfield only two points above the bottom three.

Some believe that Liverpool will win comfortably against Wolves but, the boss has a different idea, as he expressed in his pre-match comments.

The Portuguese was full of praise for the Premier League leaders but, made it clear that he has high hopes for the fixture at Anfield.

“I’m not thinking of going there to defend for 90 minutes to take a point from the game,” Pereira said, via Wolves’ official website

“I’m thinking to prepare the team to go there to play in our way, or to try to play in our way, with our tools, with our skills, with our qualities, and to get the best possible result.”

As seen during the mid-week action, earning a result against Liverpool is doable, despite the early success that Slot has installed to the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds will be as dangerous as ever as they lick their wounds from drawing against Everton in the Merseyside derby but, Wolves must simply use David Moyes’ blueprint to attempt to cause an upset.

Slot has a lot of respect for Pereira and what the Wolves manager has achieved so far at Molineux, making the contest one that Sunday’s hosts will be wary of.

Liverpool’s record at Anfield

Liverpool won’t be easy to beat by any means, having won 80% of their games at Anfield this season, losing once back in September to Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest.

Wolves on the other hand have won just twice on the road this season but, one of which came under Pereira, with the boss hoping for more of the same as Anfield awaits.
