Vitor Pereira appears to have a new favourite at Wolves as £26m ace praised once again

It has been a woeful start to the new season for Wolves, but one player is clearly in Vitor Pereira’s good books.

Wolves have lost all five of their Premier League games so far and the mood right now is low.

It was always going to be a difficult start, but across those five games Wolves have shown they are miles off it.

The squad is weaker compared to last season, meaning Vitor Pereira really has his work cut out to get Wolves in the top-flight this season.

Pereira had hoped to have Wolves finishing in and around mid-table, but that will be a tall order given the make-up of the squad and how the challenge from the newly promoted teams looks like it will be stronger this term.

But hopefully with time, things will settle down and the new signings will prove their worth.

And one man who already looks to have made a big impression on Pereira is Ladislav Krejci.

On Saturday, Krejci opened his account for Wolves, scoring in the eighth minute against Leeds.

He was deployed in a midfield role alongside Joao Gomes, with Andre having been dropped to the bench.

Krejci latched onto a great through ball from Fer Lopez after good play by Tolu Arokodare in the build-up, and finished well.

Unfortunately, Krejci then conceded a free-kick later in the half which allowed Leeds to take the lead in the game.

But it was actually a positive showing overall from the Czech international, and Pereira has again praised the 26-year-old.

He said (via E&S): “Krejci is a very good player.

“He is a player with maturity, tactical maturity, he knows how to make good decisions and can play as a centre-back or midfielder with the same quality.

“He has this skill to get into the box and score goals, like he did.”

Claire Hakeman believes Krejci looks like he can be a regular for Wolves, and Dave Edward has also been full of praise for Krejci, insisting he ‘never looks flustered’.

Pereira praised Krejci shortly after Wolves signed him Girona, stating he was a player he felt could help the team ‘a lot’ this season.

And now Krejci – who will be signed permanently next year for a total fee of £26 million (BBC Sport) – is again coming in for praise from his manager, who is clearly a big fan of his already.

That was clear from the decision to play him in midfield against Leeds ahead of Andre, who most Wolves fans deem to be one of the best players at the club.

So far, everything points to Krejci starting games regularly for Wolves.

On paper, his signing perhaps wasn’t completely necessary. But now that he’s here he looks like he’ll play a big part.
