Vitor Pereira admits he’s open to trying something Wolves fans have been calling for

Ever since the window closed on the September 1st, Wolves fans have been calling for a certain tactical approach, and Vitor Pereira wants to give it a try.

Wolves’ biggest issue this season has been putting the ball in the net. Yes, defence has been shaky, but it’s going forward where the most glaring issues lie.

The first two games saw Wolves manage just over one expected goal, posing little threat to the opposition defence. After Matheus Cunha’s departure, the question was: Where will Wolves’ goals come from?

Jorgen Strand Larsen is bound to chip in with his fair share, and new striker Tolu Arokodare has shown he can put up impressive volume.

The overarching concern is that only one of them will be on the pitch at a given time.

Well actually…

Vitor Pereira wants to try out Jorgen Strand Larsen and Tolu Arokodare strike partnership

Speaking to the media ahead of the weekend, Pereira was asked whether he can see the two target men taking the field together.

He responded: “Why not? We’ll see, they need to work together, and I need to see the result.”

The prospect of two giants leading the line for Wolves is an interesting one. Fans have been suggesting it since Tolu’s arrival.

In the West Ham game, Strand Larsen and Sasa Kalajdzic came on as substitutes, and it clearly caused David Moyes’ side problems, as the Norwegian bagged a two-minute brace to win that game.

Maybe it won’t be the go-to move this season, but to play them together every now and then could be an effective way of putting pressure on opposition defences, especially in the later stages of a game when defender fatigue sets in.

The striker experiment isn’t an option for Vitor Pereira against Newcastle

Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing that approach on Saturday, as Strand Larsen is still ruled out due to injury.

Pereira’s choice is between Tolu and Hwang Hee-chan, whose Newcastle record is impressive.

However, once Strand Larsen is back, it will give Pereira the freedom to play around with the squad and extract as many goals as possible from the tools at his disposal.

Don’t be surprised to see the two giants leading the line for Wolves some time soon.
