Wolves star Hwang Hee-chan made the days of a group of university students from South Korea, by surprising them during a tour of Molineux.
A 40-strong group of international students from the University of Wolverhampton were being shown around Wolvesâ home ground when Hwang turned up to greet them.
The forward received an extremely warm greeting, with many shocked he was in their presence.
Hwang was already a big star in Korea, after having spells with RB Sazburg and RB Leipzig before pitching up at Wolves.
But his profile and popularity became much bigger following his exploits at the World Cup.
Hwangâs late goal against Portugal sent South Korea through to the last 16, where they met Brazil.
The South American nation proved a step too far though, blew Hwang and his teammates away 4-1. Without question though, Hwang was Koreaâs best player in that match.
Since returning for Wolves, ÂŁ14 million star Hwang has been much improved under Julen Lopetegui. The new manager had taken a liking to the 27-year-old. But he is now out of action for four to five weeks with a hamstring injury.
On meeting Hwang at Molineux, Sooan â who is on the Universityâs semester abroad programme from Chunbuk National University â said (via University of Wolverhampton):Â âHwang is our treasure, he is the most famous player and itâs such an honour to have met him.
âThe whole day has been a fantastic experience and I thank the university for this perfect surprise.â
Russel Jones, Wolvesâ general manager of marketing and commercial growth, added:Â âHwangâs performances at the World Cup and at Wolves have really helped the clubâs popularity spike in Korea.
âIt was a pleasure to welcome students from Chunbuk National University to Molineux. Iâm delighted they had the chance to meet one of their national heroes. I hope they all leave as Wolves fans and with special memories of their time in Wolverhampton.â
Hwang Hee-chan is a class act, as Wolves star surprises students at Molineux
This is lovely to see from Hwang.
He has taken the time out of his day to go and surprise those students. And you can see in the video how excited they all were.
Many of them will not forget that experience of meeting a South Korean sports hero.
Sine Hwang came to Wolves, he has always come across as brilliant human being.
Hopefully, the star can soon recover from his injury and find form under Lopetegui. It would be fantastic to see him flourish, after a tricky start to the season. He deserves it.
