For some Wolves fans, Sunday’s game with Newcastle United is still a bit of a sore one.
Wanderers were beaten 2-1 at St. James’ Park and missed the chance to move clear of the relegation zone.
Miguel Almiron grabbed a winner late on for the hosts.
There has been a sense of injustice since the game, with the incident involving Nick Pope and Raul Jimenez coming under the microscope.
Pope took Jimenez down in the area, but somehow did not concede a penalty.
Referee Andy Madley failed to blow and VAR did not tell him to view the incident on the pitch side monitor.
Wolves could potentially have been a goal and a man up. It was possible the game could have panned out completely different.
But it wasn’t to be, and Wolves fans are again cursing their luck after refereeing incompetance.
Wolves share Joao Moutinho’s amazing touch in first-half against Newcastle
Positives from the game were few and far between.
Hwang Hee-chan coming back and scoring instantly off the bench was a good moment. Hopefully the South Korean will take big confidence from that.
There was actually a very brief moment of brilliance in the first-half from Wolves maestro Moutinho.
The club have today decided to share this moment via their TikTok account.
Ruben Neves sent over a cross and the ball was cleared high up into the air by Jacob Murphy.
Moutinho then proceeded to control the ball with the most sublime touch, and while under pressure from Murphy.
During the game, Jamie Carragher couldn’t help but gasp in amazement.
Wolves were unfortunately unable to win the game. But Moutinho’s moment does definitely deserve multiple viewings.
