Video: Joao Gomes makes three Wolves players looks silly with ridiculous rondo skills

Wolves fans have been impressed with what they’ve seen so far from Joao Gomes, so it should come as no surprise that he made three of his teammates look silly during a pre-season rondo.

Wanderers are actually now back from Portugal to begin their next phase of preparations.

Jose Sa, Nelson Semedo and Hwang Hee-chan have now returned to the squad having had some extra time off.

It seems there is now only Pedro Neto and Fabio Silva – who were both in action with Portugal U21s at the Euros in Georgia – to return.

Wolves played a couple of friendly matches while they were out in Portugal.

They beat Vitoria 2-1, and then won 1-0 against Farense.

It has been a productive trip, and today Wolves released a video of what the players have been getting up to.

Joao Gomes is ridiculous at rondo as he embarrasses Matheus Nunes, Toti Gomes and Pablo Sarabia

One game that is played regularly in Wolves training – and likely most clubs around the world – is the rondo.

This involves a small group of players trying to keep the ball as one or more players in the middle try to win back possession.

Often the goal is to get to a certain amount of passes.

It is a game that technical players tend to be the best at.

And one man who is very technical is Wolves’ midfielder Gomes.

This should come as no surprise as a player hailing from Brazil. But Gomes looks to be one of the best in the squad at the rondo.

In a video released by Wolves, he can be seen (2:13) making Matheus Nunes and Toti Gomes look silly by feigning to flick the ball to the side, before flicking it forwards and through the middle of them. His brilliant skill completely bamboozled £42 million star Nunes.

Seconds later, Gomes produced a brilliant nutmeg on Pablo Sarabia with the outside of his foot.

Joao Gomes will be so good for Wolves

Wolves fans are rightly very excited about Gomes and what he will bring to Wolves.

He made a handful of appearances following his £15 million transfer in January and really caught the eye.

He looks to primarily be a ball-winning workhorse.

But clearly, as this video clips shows, he is a solid technician as well.

Perhaps when he gets more comfortable he will become more of a ball-carrier like Nunes, with Mario Lemina being more of a holder in midfield.

He’s set to play more for Wolves this season following the exit of Ruben Neves. And Wanderers fans can’t wait to watch him develop.
