Wolves captain Max Kilman put in his best display of the season against Manchester City – and journalist Liam Keen has taken the opportunity to talk about how good the 26-year-old is with the media.
Gary O’Neil masterminded a 2-1 win at Molineux.
It was a hugely impressive result and performance from Wolves.
It came just days after the shocking Carabao Cup defeat to Ipswich town.
The win will do wonders for confidence.
And fans will hope this can now be a catalyst for Wolves, who have been a little bit unlucky in some games in the opening weeks of the season.
It was great to see Kilman play so well on Saturday – and Keen has been speaking about Kilman as a captain…
Liam Keen sheds light on Max Kilman as Wolves captain, and talks up his media relations
Kilman came up as a topic of conversation on the latest Express & Star podcast.
In recent weeks, some have actually questioned Kilman as the choice of captain at Wolves.

But keen has provided some insight about him in terms of speaking to the media.
He said: “To Max’s credit, he was very good when we spoke to him after the (City) game. These are the kind of things I’m talking about when we talk about him as a captain. A captain, whether it’s good or bad, needs to come out at the right times and speak.
“Last season that 6-0 loss to Brighton, Neves refused. He spoke to broadcast, but not to me. And a couple of others didn’t want to do it. Max Kilman came out and spoke to me and took responsibility and accountability for that absolutely dreadful performance. He deserved massive credit for that.
“I though he spoke very, very well actually (on Saturday). I was very impressed. Even when there wasn’t questions about Gary O’Neil, he was speaking about Gary O’Neil. It was very much an ‘I want to back him’ (message). Fair play to him.”
Keen added that there are a couple of Wolves playes who let themselves down with not speaking to the media enough, but did not name them.
Kilman will grow into captaincy role, he certainly speaks well
It’s nice to hear praise like this for Kilman, and he does deserve credit for making himself available to speak whatever might have happened in a game.
A captain should be willing to talk regardless of anything and Kilman appears to be like that.

Kilman is quite a different captain to Conor Coady and Ruben Neves.
On the pitch, he does not appear as dominant or loud. Certainly in comparison to Coady.
But Kilman is clearly a good leader and he is highly respected but his teammates – his interview at the weekend was very good indeed.
