Vitor Pereira sprung a surprise with his team selection against Newcastle United, and Dave Edwards has expressed concern for two players.
Wolves fell to a 1-0 defeat against the Magpies at St. James’ Park, with Nick Woltemade scoring the game’s only goal.
Woltemade headed in after outjumping Emmanuel Agbadou, who continues to struggle in a Wolves shirt.
Wolves did well in the first 45 minutes, and actually may have gone ahead right at the start of the game when Rodrigo Gomes had a chance.
But Wolves went on to lose, meaning the club have now made their worst start to a season in their 127-year history.
There was a fair amount of surprise over Vitor Pereira’s team selection against Newcastle, and Dave Edwards believes it may spell trouble for two players.
Dave Edwards concerned for Jhon Arias and Fer Lopez after Wolves system change

For the longest time, we have seen Wolves play a 3-4-3 formation, with two number 10s in behind one striker.
It has been the staple formation for many managers at Molineux, and is pretty much a part of the club’s DNA.
On Saturday against Newcastle, Pereira threw a curve ball by starting with two up top – Hwang Hee-chan and new signing Tolu Arokodare.
Jorgen Strand Larsen was out injured, so Pereira put his faith in the duo.
Pereira praised Arokodare after the game, and potentially him playing up top with Strand Larsen could happen at some stage.
It is currently unclear whether this could become a regular thing when Strand Larsen is back available, but Dave Edwards feels the system that was played against Newcastle may not help Jhon Arias and Fer Lopez.
He said (via E&S): “The other con is the recruitment. If we are going to stick with two up front, but we’ve recruited for 3-4-3, then the likes of Jhon Arias and Fer Lopez will struggle to fit into the system. It will be interesting to see if Pereira uses this formation moving forward.
“The head coach will have seen enough positives from it to be confident that it can work in games, but I’d probably still expect him to be chopping and changing, a bit like Nuno Espirito Santo did.”

Pereira must quickly determine his best Wolves team and system

Edwards raises an interesting point.
If Wolves are to play with two strikers, that would theoretically make it harder for Arias and Lopez to start games. Particularly Lopez, who seems more suited to playing slightly more inside.
But the most important thing right now is for Pereira to establish his best team and system.

It has been a chaotic start to the new season, which was to be expected given how Wolves struggled in the transfer window.
Wolves have made the second most changes to their starting XI so far this term, so hopefully the manager will soon find a fairly settled XI that is capable of picking up points.
