‘Training exceptionally well’: O’Neil so impressed by 22-year-old ahead of Bournemouth clash

Gary O’Neil has admitted Boubacar Traore is currently training ‘exceptionally well’.

The Wanderers head coach is looking ahead to this weekend’s Premier League game with Bournemouth.

Wolves picked up five points across their last three matches, including three against Manchester City.

There is a greater sense of optimism now at Molineux compared to after the first few weeks of the new season.

The players seems to be really responding to O’Neil, and the hope is that the team can now kick on after the international break.

It’s Bournemouth up next for Wolves, and O’Neil might just have dropped a hint about this team selection…

Of course, he was sacked by the Cherries back in June, despite comfortably keeping the club in the Premier League last season.

He will be so keen to go back to the Vitality Stadium and oversee a win.

He’ll have to do it without Mario Lemina in midfield, after the 30-year-old was sent off against Aston Villa.

But it looks as though he has a player ready and waiting to come in in the form of Boubacar Traore.

He said (Express & Star): “Bouba (Boubacar Traore) has been training exceptionally well and it’s exciting the way he can get around the pitch, and Tommy (Doyle) has come in and added something.”

Traore will surely start against Bournemouth

At this point it is really clear that O’Neil really likes what Traore is about.

As pointed out by journalist Liam Keen on a recent Express & Star podcast episode, the head coach has brought Traore up a few times in interviews without being directly asked about him.

He’s now said the player has trained ‘exceptionally well’, and he’s clearly happy with him.

It would therefore be no surprise to see him in that starting XI on Saturday.

Lemina cannot play, and the 22-year-old definitely deserves a chance to shine in his place.
