Toti Gomes shares what Tolu Arokodare told him on WhatsApp after joining Wolves

Toti Gomes was made Wolves’ captain earlier in the summer, and the defender has a lot of responsibilities, including welcoming new signings.

Tolu Arokodare is the latest recruit for Wolves, and marked their seventh signing in the window just gone.

The forward arrived just before the international break, so he has had little time to get to know his new team-mates.

The club captain, Toti Gomes, has now confirmed that he has spoken to Tolu as he prepares to settle into life at Molineux.

Toti revealed the nature of the conversation, and what the Nigerian told him about his move.

Toti Gomes says Tolu Arokodare is happy to be at Wolves

Tolu Arokodare signed for Wolves on deadline day for £24 million, and instantly had to travel to Nigeria to partake in World Cup qualifying.

As he did not have time to meet his new team-mates, captain Toti Gomes decided to reach out to the player via WhatsApp instead.

Speaking on the official Wolves website, Toti said, ‘“I spoke to Tolu a bit. When he signed, I sent him a message on WhatsApp saying welcome to the pack, to the team, to the family and whatever he needed, I’m here to help him.”

“We spoke a little bit, and he was really happy to join us. For sure, he is going to be one more to help us.”

As Wolves gear up to take on Newcastle this weekend, Tolu Arokodare could help the club sooner than Toti expects.

There are some injury concerns for Vitor Pereira, and that could spark good news for the £24 million signing.

Tolu Arokodare could start for Wolves against Newcastle

Tolu Arokodare could be in line to start against Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.

Jorgen Strand Larsen pulled out of the Norwegian camp with an injury, and there have been no updates on the forward’s condition so far.

Tolu recently scored for his nation and the Nigerian media raved about the Wolves player’s performance.

Vitor Pereira will be delighted that this new striker is returning after the international break full of confidence, and the Portuguese could put his confidence in the player.

If Strand Larsen isn’t fit, Tolu is the obvious choice to start. However, there is always a chance that Pereira opts to go for Hwang Hee-chan.

Tolu will have had very little time training under his new manager, which could be a deciding factor in the Old Gold’s lineup.
