Toti Gomes injury timeframe revealed as Vitor Pereira shares promising update on Wolves star

Vitor Pereira offered a promising update on the fitness of Wolves defender Toti Gomes in Friday’s press conference.

Toti suffered a hamstring injury at the end of December and the 25-year-old has since missed the clashes against Tottenham, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and Newcastle United.

It served as a huge blow to Vitor Pereira as Toti flourished on the left of a back three in wins over Leicester City and Manchester United, keeping clean sheets in both.

Wolves have since conceded eight Premier League goals in his absence, with supporters perhaps wondering when he will be fit to return.

Toti Gomes is ‘recovering well’ and should return in a week

Speaking to the media, as per journalist Liam Keen on X, the 56-year-old revealed that Toti is ‘recovering well’ and should return to the squad within the next week.

“Toti is recovering well and maybe in one week (he can play),” Pereira said.

This comes as excellent news to Wolves, who saw the talented defender come into his own during the manager’s first two games in charge, slotting perfectly into the left of a back three.

Not only that but having Toti back will mean there’s less pressure on using Santiago Bueno every week, with the Uruguayan often struggling to live with the divisions’ physicality.

It means that, while Pereira wants to sign another defender, a back line consisting of Matt Doherty, new signing Emmanuel Agbadou and Toti could happen very soon.

The Wolves manager didn’t just provide an update on the £25k-a-week star, as two other players are closing in on a return.

Boubacar Traore and Sasa Kalajdzic close to Wolves return

Pereira revealed that Boubacar Traore is back with the squad as he works his way back to full fitness and forgotten forward Sasa Kalajdzic is currently working with the medical department.

Traore was spotted in Wolves training this week for the first time since suffering a long-term injury against Burnley in the Carabao Cup in August.

It meant that Traore’s injury prevented him from moving to Feyenoord on loan, as he had to undergo surgery on his meniscus.

As for Kalajdzic, he suffered an ACL injury while on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt and the towering forward is still working his way back to full fitness.

Now, after going through months of hell, the 27-year-old could be back in and amongst the first-team picture soon, although it remains to be seen whether Pereira wants him in his plans.
