Tony Pulis predicts a bit of a surprise in Wolves vs Newcastle United, Mick McCarthy then responds

Mick McCarthy is an iconic figure around Molineux, and on his latest podcast with Tony Pulis, the pair have given their thoughts ahead of Saturday’s game against Newcastle.

The Old Gold travel north to St. James’ Park in hopes of picking up their first points of the season.

Their opponents Newcastle are also yet to pick up a win, but they stand two points above Vitor Pereira’s side.

It will be a difficult fixture, especially considering Eddie Howe’s record vs Wolves and a referee appointment that won’t excite fans.

However, Tony Pulis has predicted something unexpected about Saturday’s 3 pm kick-off.

Tony Pulis predicts Wolves to lose against Newcastle but game will be tight

Tony Pulis has given a prediction on how Newcastle vs Wolves will play out on Saturday afternoon.

The former Stoke City manager gave the verdict while speaking on his new podcast with Mick McCarthy, The Managers.

Pulis said, ‘Newcastle to beat Wolves…Newcastle will be relieved all the nonsense is over with all the transfers coming in and coming out.’

‘Wolves haven’t had a great start, I expect it’ll be a tighter game than most people think it’ll be but I am still going with Newcastle.’

Wolves have struggled at the back this season, conceding eight goals in three games. Pulis’ prediction of it being a tight game certainly goes against what the Old Gold have experienced this season so far.

Although, on the other side, Newcastle have scored just two goals in three games.

New signings Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade are expected to come in to remedy that issue.

If Wolves can keep the game tight, they could potentially come away with a result.

They’ll need their defenders to be on top form, and their attackers ready to pounce as Newcastle are sure to dominate the proceedings.

Mick McCarthy refuses to predict Newcastle vs Wolves

Speaking on the same podcast, former Wolves manager Mick McCarthy refused to predict the Wolves game.

Mick McCarthy loves Wolves, and he did not want to upset supporters of the Old Gold, as well as fans of his other former employers Sunderland.

McCarthy in response to Pulis said, ”I don’t really like backing against Sunderland and Wolves who are bottom of the league.

‘I am thinking when I am looking at the fixtures, we might get some views on this podcast but I’d get dogs abuse in Sunderland and in Wolves if I go against them.’

Fans will be hoping that Tony Pulis’ prediction will ring true, as it being a tight-knit affair will provide Vitor Pereira with a chance of snatching three points.
