Tommy Doyle has a message for Wolves fans after shocking defeat to Brentford

Alarm bells are ringing at Wolves after the 5-3 defeat to Brentford.

Wanderers fell to their sixth defeat of the season at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday, with Gary O’Neil overseeing one of the worst Wolves performances in a long time.

Wolves did not give themselves any hope of taking points down in west London because of shoddy defending.

Wolves have been shipping goals too easily all season, and that was the case once again against the Bees.

Wolves scoring three goals in a game should mean three points. But at the moment, this is not enough due to how shaky the backline is.

It is clear that O’Neil must sort this part of the team out especially, and he has already hinted at a formation change.

It’s Manchester City after the international break, and midfielder Tommy Doyle has sent a message to Wolves fans ahead of facing his old club.

After Saturday’s defeat to Brentford, many Wolves fans are now looking to see a managerial change.

O’Neil’s side have struggled badly this term and it is generally the same story every week in terms of how Wolves lost games.

But others do have some sympathy for the Wolves boss.

Alan Shearer believes the sales of Max KIlman and Pedro Neto have stung, while Jamie O’Hara has pointed the finger at Fosun.

It’s City at Molineux up next for Wolves and this fixture was the catalyst for Wolves last season, with O’Neil changing the formation.

Doyle hasn’t featured much for Wolves this season, at least from the start, but he might be considered to play against his old side.

Despite not getting any minutes against Brentford, he has fronted up and made a plea to fans amid this very tough period, writing on X: “Frustrating times at the moment, but stick with us. We’ll regroup over the break and be back.”

Wolves fans are entitled to be disgusted

Sadly, Doyle’s plea is going to fall on a lot of deaf ears.

He is one of only a few players who can actually hold their head high so far, as he has done well with what limited minutes he’s had.

But Wolves fans are well within their rights to be angry right now.

It has been unacceptable so far this season and the performance against Brentford was truly awful.

It looks as though O’Neil will be given a bit more time to turn things around, but with City next and then Brighton after, things could soon get even worse.
