Tom King claims one of his Wolves teammates is ‘training like a madman’ at Compton Park right now

Wolves kicked off with a defeat against Arsenal last weekend, but fans are excited to see how this team gets on in 2024/25.

Gary O’Neil watched his side lose 2-0 to the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium.

Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka got the goals, with Wolves punished for their lack of a cutting edge in the crucial moments.

Wolves had two good chances through Jorgen Strand Larsen and Matheus Cunha, but neither could convert.

But Wolves had good spells in the game, and fans were largely enthused by the performance. Arsenal are just a great side, and will likely compete again for the Premier League title this season.

All the players at Wolves are hoping to have a great season, and Tom King has suggested one player in the squad is absolutely determined to impress.

Wolves have a squad that is packed with quality players and also some really exciting prospects.

One such exciting prospect is Pedro Lima, who joined the club earlier this summer from Sport Recife.

Brazilian Lima had been set to join Chelsea. But Wolves hijacked the move, selling the youngster a project that was more in line with what he wanted.

Lima did not feature against Arsenal, with O’Neil preferring to go with Matt Doherty at right-back in place of the suspended Nelson Semedo.

But Lima is determined to impress, with goalkeeper Tom King speaking about the youngster this past week.

He said (via The Official Wolves Podcast): “I’m fully prepared (to make my debut) like everyone is in the squad.

“The only (other) debut we’ve got left now is young Pedro Lima who’s training like a madman every day as well. He’s excited for his moment and his time to shine.

“Obviously he’s got two quality right-backs in front of him now.

“Just to put yourself in his shoes, he’s a very religious boy, he’s waiting for that moment and he’s ready to go.”

Encouraging to hear

It may be a while before we see Lima playing regular for the Wolves first-team, but the early signs are very encouraging.

He impressed in pre-season, and now we have King admitting the Brazilian is training extremely hard to try and impress the manager.

This should probably come as no real surprise. When Lima signed for the club, Matt Hobbs painted a very good picture of him, saying: “He has a real attitude to learning. He has a massive desire to be the best player he can be.”

Lima has great potential and hopefully it won’t be too long before we see him given some chances.

As O’Neil said though, patience is required with Lima.
