Tim Spiers says Wolves made one of the most influential signings of the summer

Wolves’ summer left fans with a lot to be desired, and the lack of proven experience has been a factor in their poor form.

However, everything looks to be clicking together now after performances against Tottenham and Brighton that can only be described as much better than the previous five Premier League displays.

Both fixtures ended disappointingly, with Wolves conceding late equalisers. The upturn in form looks to be due to the fact that some of their new signings are starting to adapt now, and Vitor Pereira has changed the system.

Jhon Arias was excellent against Spurs and hailed as special; meanwhile, Jackson Tchatchoua was deemed to have ‘changed the game.’

However, David Moller Wolfe has seen a lack of minutes throughout his time at Wolves so far.

There is one man that did not have to adapt and seamlessly slotted in, and now Tim Spiers has ranked him incredibly high among every Premier League signing.

Last month, Tim Spiers ranked every Premier League signing, and in doing so, he said Fer Lopez’s move to Wolves was better than Matheus Cunha’s to Manchester United.

Additionally, he stated the permanent transfer of Jorgen Strand Larsen was one of the best value deals.

However, Ladislav Krejci appeared to go under the radar. The Czech international was put in 96th place and was viewed as a squad option rather than a starter.

With the international break ongoing, Spiers has returned to re-rank the summer signings, but this time, by how influential they have been to their teams via the Athletic, and there has been a change for Krejci.

Krejci got a major boost in the rankings, and the journalist has named him as the 15th most influential transfer so far.

Spiers says, “Krejci oozes quality and has slotted in seamlessly in both defence and midfield. Composure personified, he plays through balls, finds space and can handle himself against a physical striker. Wolves’ best signing. Shame they didn’t bother with many more.”

The defender is among strong company, being rated higher than the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Matheus Cunha, and Florian Wirtz.

His impact was recognised by Wolves by him being handed the Player of the Month for September.

Jorgen Strand Larsen gets deranked by Tim Spiers

As mentioned earlier, Jorgen Strand Larsen’s loan being made permanent was highly rated by Spiers last month.

However, the Norwegian has not been as influential as you’d hoped so far, likely due to the ongoing injury issues he is facing, and certainly not helped by the speculation over his future during the summer.

The journalist has moved him from ninth place all the way to 47th.

Spiers said, “The fact that Newcastle were considering a bid of around £60m appears to have disrupted Strand Larsen’s flow. Scored twice in the cup, but no goals in five league appearances, and has cut a frustrated figure.”

Larsen has no doubt been frustrated, and it was evident by what the striker did after full-time against Brighton.

Hopefully the forward can be back among the goals soon, as the club need him at his best.
